Final assessment period

If you are attending an exam, you must be aware of what you can and can't take into your exam room.

What you must bring

• identification (yourstudent ID,卡伦牌t passport or a current Australian driver's license) – if you do not bring identification, you may not be eligible to sit your exam
• seat allocation details
• writing implements (pens, pencils, erasers, rulers)

What you may also bring

• a clear water bottle with no writing or labels – the liquid must be transparent
• a small number of hard sweets or lollies in clear wrappers (e.g. barley sugars) – they must have no writing on them and must not be disruptive to other students
• calculator – if authorised for your exam

If you have any other items, you must place them in your bag under your chair or as directed by the invigilator. Please check your pockets before the exam begins.

Mobile phones, smart watches and other electronic devices

You cannot have a mobile phone, a smart watch or other electronic devices on your person during the exam. You must:

• disable any alarm
• turn off your phone, smart watch and other electronic devices
• place your phone, smart watch and other electronic devices in your bag under your chair or as directed by the invigilator.

It is a misconduct if your phone, smart watch or other electronic device is on or plays an alarm. When in doubt, remove the battery if possible.

These activities are considered cheating and misconduct:

• plagiarising
• copying from other students
• taking unauthorised or inappropriate aids or materials into an exam
• writing notes in dictionaries and other texts (including in another language)
• stealing a copy of an exam
• letting someone else sit the exam for you
• communicating with another student (e.g. hand signals or talking)
• borrowing or lending materials to another student
  

If your exam invigilator sees any misconduct, you will still be allowed to finish the exam. However, any material believed to be unauthorised will be confiscated.

You may be refused entry to the exam room or be asked to leave if you fail to give the exam invigilator materials which they believe are unauthorised.

Any misconduct during an exam will be formally reported to the examination officer, who will record the incident and send a warning letter or initiate an investigation.

Exam invigilators are there to ensure the exam is conducted fairly and appropriately. To avoid potential penalties, you will need to obey their instructions.

Penalties for exam misconduct

If an investigation reveals reasonable evidence that a student has engaged in exam misconduct, the penalties are severe and can include cancellation of results and exclusion from the course.
